Halloween time at the theme parks
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is easily one of the most popular seasons to visit the parks. It is as family friendly as it gets! Halloween Time festivities are included with your regular theme park admission. Each year there seem to be more pumpkins and not-so-spooky surprises:
What was once a quiet time at theme parks is now one of the busiest. From attraction overlays and themed food to parties that range from scary to family-friendly, Halloween is a beloved time of year for theme park-goers.
Every year, Southern California theme parks go all out for Halloween. These parks usually have something for everyone, from ghouls, ghosts, and gore at events geared toward adults to spooky (but not scary) character encounters and plenty of candy at events designed for the whole family.
Oftentimes, theme parks have discount codes offered online, and sometimes you can save money by purchasing a season pass or annual pass instead of single day admissions if you plan to visit an amusement park more than once during your trip.
Only a few weekends left - Don't miss out on some scary fun at theme parks throughout the U.S. Here is the latest, greatest list of scares, haunts, treats and screams at America's favorite, paid admission attractions this Halloween. Click links below for tickets, photos and information.

LEGOLAND CALIFORNIALEGOLAND FLORIDA LEGOLAND NEW YORK LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA TICKETS ON SALE NOW! There was a time when just a few theme parks hosted Halloween events. It appears that everyone's on board at theme parks across the nation in 2022. Here are the Halloween events throughout the U.S.
ANAHEIM: Disneyland Resort's Halloween Time is included with regular admission to Disneyland theme parks. Several attractions offer new Halloween themes, Disney characters dress in festive attire and there are light projections, music & shows just for Halloween Time.
No longer relegated to just one night for little kids, Halloween has taken on a life of its own for teens and adults of all ages at Southern California's theme and amusement parks. Gore, terror, monsters, zombies and more will make you yearn for the sweet costumes of your youth. Some places offer more family-friendly attractions for the holiday so pick carefully! From Knott's Scary Farm to Halloween Time at Disneyland parks, theme parks are going all out this year to bring you entertaining and scary attractions.
This year (2019) the parties started in Mid-August and now run through until November 1st. These special ticketed events are the one time of year that guests are allowed to dress in costume at the theme parks. Partygoers gain access to the Magic Kingdom with their party ticket starting at 4pm with festivities officially kicking off at 7pm. At that time the party closes to the general public and ticket holders can enjoy special events, shorter ride times and special Halloween-themed eats and treats!
During the Halloween season, parks such as Universal Studios and Knott's Berry Farm transform their midways into hellish landscapes with blood-splattered mazes designed to invoke terror. The Disney theme parks, however, celebrate the spooky season with nary a drop of blood.
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, which runs from mid-September through the end of October, is expanding the G-rated fun in its Disney California Adventure park this year. Cars Land, which is inspired by the Pixar films, gets a "Haul-O-Ween" overlay. Lightning McQueen and the other anthropomorphic autos who greet guests along Route 66 are decked out in, ahem, "car-stumes" (Disney's punsters were apparently working overtime on this event). The land's rides, shops, and eateries also get into the spirit of the season with cars-centric décor and themeing.
The former Tower of Terror, which got a Marvel makeover with a Guardians of the Galaxy theme earlier this year, is transformed yet again for Halloween Time. When nighttime falls, riders can experience Monsters After Dark aboard the drop tower attraction. The elevator-gone-haywire ride still features Groot, Rocket Racoon, and the rest of the Guardians gang, and it still delivers gut-wrenching falls and rises. But it incorporates a different, creepier story and includes new scenes.
Across the country at Florida's Disney World, the Magic Kingdom is also presenting its version of the separate-admission fall event, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on select nights through November 1. Along with Disneyland's Halloween party and the Magic Kingdom's Christmas party, this is the only time that the Disney theme parks allow adults as well as children to enter their gates in costume. They impose many restrictions, however, so would-be Captain Hooks and Cinderellas should check the parks' rules.
The creative minds at Universal Studios Florida have been busy brewing up the latest installment of Halloween Horror Nights, one of the most anticipated Halloween events of the season. This year, look for showstopping themed attractions based on fan favorites like Ghostbusters, Stranger Things, Us and Killer Klowns from Outer Space. On select nights, the park offers guests the chance to get scared to death in 10 horrifyingly realistic haunted houses and five scare zones where "scare actors" do their best to give them the fright of their lives. A new nighttime show, Halloween Marathon of Mayhem, brings terrifying moments from Halloween classics to life.
Knott's Berry Farm, one of the oldest theme parks in the United States, hosts one of the largest and most elaborate Halloween events in the world. On select nights, Knott's Scary Farm is home to more than 15 frightening attractions, including nine horrifying mazes, four scare zones and four malevolent live shows. Add that to the more than 1,000 terrifying creatures that lurk in shadows and around every dark corner of the park and you're in for the scare of a lifetime. Escape evil clowns at CarnEVIL and watch for dark creatures in the murky waters of Forsaken Lake. For little ones, Knott's Spooky Farm entertains with trick-or-treating and a live musical show, The Monsters are Coming Charlie Brown.
Unlike Disney theme parks in the US, those who visit Tokyo Disney Resort can dress up in Halloween costumes during any day of the festival. The park currently has a guide regarding acceptable outfits on its website.
