To get the new version of The Sims 3 for macOS, 64-bit, you will need to register your game with EA and download the 64-bit version of The Sims 3 from Origin. You can register your game and packs at www.thesims3.com by logging in with the same account you use with Origin (EA Help). For any registration or account related issues, please contact EA Support by visiting -us
If you have already registered The Sims 3 and any packs on www.thesims3.com but do not see it in My Library in Origin, ensure you log in to Origin using the same email and password you use on www.thesims3.com. The same applies for using The Sims 3 website, login using the same details you use in Origin to see all of your owned content. Do not try to re-register your code in Origin or on the website as it will inform you that the code has already been redeemed since it is already applied to your EA Account. For any registration or account related issues, please contact EA Support by visiting -us

No, all of your existing packs, Worlds and purchases from The Sims 3 Store stay with you. To install your Packs, you will need to download them once you have installed the new version of The Sims 3. You can do this by selecting The Sims 3 (64-bit & Metal) from My Game Library in Origin and selecting each Pack type and clicking the Download button. For content purchased from The Sims 3 Store, login at TheSims3.com and go to Store > My Store Account > Purchase History and you will see your purchases ready for download.
The Sims 3 for Windows PC works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. We do recommend players on The Sims 3 version 1.67 or earlier update to version 1.69, which is available to download through Origin if you have registered your game and packs against your EA Account.
Nope, nothing is wrong. Beginning on October 20 we began adding the entitlement for this version of the game to all Origin accounts that own any release of The Sims 3. This means that the game is showing up in your library, but that the game itself is not yet available for download. This is expected! The game will be available for download soon.
There are usb dvd drives but installing TS3 that way requires you to have the usb drive connected to play the game. You can get the digital download version (free) with the disc code. You need to download Origin - link - Origin and below the orange button click download for mac. Intall Origin and register the game/pack and then you should be able to download and install the games.
Hey! I have a MacBook Air and I recently bought the sims 3. I purchased online and got a code to put in to Origin. I did this and entered that code and the download was fine, but every single time I try to install the game onto Origin I get a error message. I do not have any virus scanner downloaded and I have restarted and rebooted my game multiple times. It would be appreciated if you could get back soon, thanks.

To download and install games through OriginDownload and install the Origin client for Mac and make sure it is up-to-date. If you already have Origin on your Mac but are having problems with downloading or installing games, delete the client and download a new copy (this sometimes fixes issues with downloading). The latest version can be downloaded from here: Additional advice on how to download games (thank you Tremayne for this tip):When downloading from Origin, do NOT use the first install icon. Move your cursor over the game cover and click on the information (letter i) and then click on the install button from there. For some reason, downloads from Origin frequently become corrupted. Using the i reduces the chance of your download being corrupted.
While updating macOS to a newer version should be straight forward, we recommend you backup your saves before updating to macOS Catalina. You can find The Sims 3 save files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. Simply copy the entire The Sims 3 directory somewhere safe like your cloud storage of choice (eg. iCloud, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.) or a USB flash drive. This will backup your downloaded content and your save files among other things.
For the best possible chance of successfully patching your game you should download and install the 1.67 patch manually. Due to Gatekeeper, a security feature built into OS X 10.7.5 Lion and later, you must have Administrator rights on your Mac's user account in order to run the patch. Full instructions on bypassing Gatekeeper and installing the patch can be found here.
Download and install the base game only. Once downloaded quit Origin. Now download and install the 1.67 patch. After patching launch your game. If it doesn't load or you receive an error message don't worry too much for now, move onto step 2.
If you have a 2013 or later model Mac it most probably has an unsupported graphics card/chip. You need to add your graphics to the GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicRules.sgr game files. I have created a bunch of individual GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr files that you can download and copy/paste into your own sgr files here. After applying this fix you MUST check the deviceconfig.log file for the Found and Matched values. If your game has not generated the Sims 3 folder in your Documents > Electronic Arts folder then move onto steps 3,4,5 below and come back to step 2 afterwards. If your graphics card is not listed in my link please leave a comment and I will upload a test for you to download.
Install your first expansion or stuff pack, oldest first by release date. After installing open the Launcher and download any further patch if prompted. Launch the game then quit when you get to the main menu.
The Sims 3 is sold by retailers worldwide, but can be downloaded to your computer for free using Origin if you previously purchased the game. The Sims 3 can also be downloaded for free using peer-to-peer file sharing protocol, also known as BitTorrent.
I just got a new Macbook Air (I am pretty familiar with Macs), and basically right away I downloaded Origin, and from there Sims 3 and my expansion packs. The download is finished, and yet every time I try to play the game, an Origin window pops up saying "Download in Progress Launching this game while a download is in progress can negatively impact gameplay. Are you sure you want to continue?", with a full green download bar and a % symbol (but no number) below. When I click 'Play Now', it begins bringing up the game, but then a Sims 3 window pups up saying "Unknown error occurred".

Hi, this is super confusing as I have had the sims3 on my mac since 2016 and I never ever had an issue. I have just re downloaded it and now it won't install even though this is the exact same computer i played it on for 2 whole years. Could this be the same issue? 2ff7e9595c
